Jeju Island is a famous island in South Korea that you might have seen all over Korean dramas, and it is also a popular destination, often known as “the Hawaii of South Korea.” It is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and the largest island in South Korea. Home to beautiful volcanic beaches, the clearest ocean waters, stunning coastal trails, interactive museums, and many other attractions, Jeju Island is a great place for locals and tourists alike.
How Long to Stay
Since Jeju Island is a pretty large island, you should plan to stay for at least 3 days. 3 days give you enough time to see the major attractions, but if you have more time, 5 days would be ideal and the perfect amount of time to see the island at a more relaxing pace. One tip I highly recommend is to rent a car. Renting a car on Jeju Island is the best way to get around and allows you to see more places. In my experience, the buses were slow and inefficient, and it was difficult to hail or book taxis (plus the fees will add up!). Driving around Jeju Island was relatively easy, and make sure to familiarize yourself with the driving rules beforehand.
Where to Stay
For first-time visitors, Seogwipo is the best area to stay, and it is the second largest city that is in the southern part of Jeju Island. Seogwipo is a great place to base yourself, especially if you want to immerse yourself in Jeju’s natural attractions. This area is popular for its volcanic coastline, stunning waterfalls, beautiful hotels, delicious food, and exciting markets. Some of my favorite attractions you need to check out are Seogwipo Olle Market, Jeongbang Waterfall, Jeju Olle Trail, Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, and Oedolgae.
Which Hotel to Stay At
Vacation should be all relaxation, and why not make it even better by staying at a fancy hotel? Seogwipo has many luxury hotels to stay at, and my top hotel recommendation is GoldOne Hotel & Suites! It is an affordable 4-star hotel that is centrally located, has the best amenities, and provides amazing hospitality. The staff makes you feel right at home while providing the ultimate luxury experience.
If you stay for 2 or more nights, the hotel provides the most delicious breakfast buffet I have ever had at any hotel. They served a Korean and Western-style buffet, and there were a variety of options to choose from. They even had a croffle station, coffee machine, and dessert bar, and my favorites were the steak and the croffle. It is definitely the best way to start each day right in Jeju!
They also provide stunning amenities like a heated pool, fitness center, mini golf, and game rooms which make you never want to leave the property! However, I can’t forget to mention the rooms themselves which were spacious, luxurious, and comfy. The rooms are equipped with a rain shower, spacious closet spaces, a large working desk, a comfy bed, a relaxing couch, and my personal favorites: a private bathtub and balcony overlooking the beautiful, blue ocean.
Staying at GoldOne was one of the best experiences Iβve had in Jeju, and it was the icing on the cake of my trip to Jeju Island. If youβre visiting Jeju Island, I highly recommend staying here for the ultimate luxurious and relaxing stay.
